I'm Jordie. Nice to meet you!
American-born, Jamaican-made. I've had the great opportunity of experiencing the world through the eyes of a Jamaican family, growing up with my parents, aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents.
Attended a fantastic college-prep school on Long Island, NY, then attended Marist College, in Poughkeepsie. (Yes, Bill O'Reilly's alma mater.) I studied Radio/TV/Film for a year before changing to Information Technology/Software. I learned the love of hands on architecture, rules and systems-thinking.
Began a love affair in technology starting as a Virtual/Cloud administrator at IBM, and then discovered the beatiful magic of solving problems long before they end up in code. User Experience barely had it's name properly coined, when I jumped in 1000% feet first into this industry.
Since then, it's been a wild ride of discovery, adventure, challenge and sometimes a pressure to conform to the humdrum norms of IT life. I've had really great mentors throughout my career that helped shape me as a person and leader. So far, the common thread is people see something rare in me, a dog with a bone and I can put down the puzzle until it's fully solved.
Anthem Craft was initially borne from wanting to help people understand and utilize technology appropriately and effectively. I did the brunt work of configuring systems, setting up websites and hosting them (sometimes pro bono) because it was so easy for me to do to help relieve their tech burden.
Since then, I've worked on civic hackathons, sponsored women in tech events, and offered my photography services to conferences across the US.
Today, I spend most of my time solving wicked complex problems for healthcare by day, and moonlighting as an aspiring filmmaker and musician on weekends. I'm over the moon about sci-fi/fantasy as it intersects with the realities of time, space and the cosmos.
